Cellufuel Inc. is a Nova Scotia based start-up that is focused on the production of synthetic renewable fuels from the forestry resource. We hold an exclusive license for an innovative technology that we are in the process of transferring to Nova Scotia. Our demonstration project is an innovative opportunity to aid in the development of the forestry industry and rural economic development across Canada in a clean, renewable and sustainable manner. Upon the successful completion of the demonstration project, Cellufuel is positioned well for the development of commercial scale projects in many locations across rural Canada. These projects have the potential to provide significant economic impact within rural communities.
Christopher J. Hooper – President & CEO, Cellufuel
Chris has a broad base of experience that encompasses industrial, manufacturing, power (fossil & renewable) and private investment sectors, amongst others. He has held senior leadership roles in operations, business and corporate development, corporate strategy, general management and portfolio investment management with many companies including Stora Enso Oy, NewPage Corporation, Cerberus Capital Management and JD Irving, Limited. Chris is a native of New Brunswick and is a graduate of Dalhousie University, the Technical University of Nova Scotia and Saint Mary's University completing science, engineering and MBA degrees.
Veselin Milosevic – Founder, Cellufuel
Veselin has over two decades of process engineering research and technology development experience with commercial applications in food and beverage, petro-chemical, pulp and paper, alternative energy and environmental industry. His career includes international project management experience and technology development, from conceptual design to technology demonstration, transfer, installation and start-up.
His career includes a technical position at Water Technology Centre, a management position with Irving Group of companies, and his current position at Envirosystems in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, where he leads the company innovation team. Veselin is a chemical engineer by profession, with advanced technical and business degrees from renowned education centers.
Patrick Lemaire – President & CEO, Boralex
President and CEO of Boralex, Patrick Lemaire is at the head of this growing company since September 2006. In 1998, after obtaining his degree in Mechanical Engineering in the University Laval of Quebec, Patrick Lemaire officially began his career as a maintenance supervisor at Niagara Falls in the United States. He successively held the functions of project manager, maintenance manager and director of Cascades plants in France and the United States.
His managerial skills and leadership will eventually be put to use as general manager of five Norampac plants and above all, vice president and chief operating officer of that company. For over 20 years, Patrick has put forward important values such as respect, entrepreneurship, creatibvity and teamwork; values that define his style of management.
Gabriel Ouellet – Director Biomass, Boralex
Since 2007, Gabriel Ouellet has served as Director, Biomass, for Boralex inc. He started his career in 1987 as Project Leader in the energetic management of buildings, first for the company Régulvar and later for Automisation AT in 1992.
In 1994, he joined Cascades as thermal power station Supervisor before holding the positions of Maintenance & Project Manager as well as Plant Manager. He then joined the Boralex team in 2005 to head the technical management of 8 biomass power stations as well as becoming General Manager of the Senneterre power station. Mr. Ouellet is also in charge of prospecting and business development for the biomass sector of Boralex. Mr. Ouellet holds a Mechanical Technology licence from ÉTS, specializing in Thermal Energy (1987). In 2003, he obtained an MBA from Sherbrooke University.
James Kong-Win Chang, Jr Eng, PhD – Chemical Engineering Project Manager, Cellufuel & Boralex
James is a holder of a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Renewable Energy Engineering (UoM-Mauritius), a Master’s degree in Renewable Energy (IST-Portugal, KTH-Sweden) and a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering (UdeS-Canada). He has worked as a sustainable development analyst at EcoVadis and as a researcher in biofuels at the Biomass Technology Laboratory. At Cellufuel, he has been the Chemical Engineering Project Manager since May 2018 and, in August 2019, he has joined Boralex, while keeping his roles and responsibilities at Cellufuel for the set-up and operation of an improved pre-commercial plant at Asbestos, QC, Canada.
